One of the major hurdles for electric vehicle adoption in cold climates is severely slowed charging speeds in winter. CATL's latest battery technology directly tackles this issue. The "Super-Charging Version" of its new Shenxing Pro battery is engineered to perform consistently in low temperatures. According to the company, even in an environment as cold as -20°C, the battery can recharge from 20% to 80% state of charge in just 20 minutes. Under normal conditions, it supports a peak charging rate of 12C, allowing it to add 478 km (WLTP) of range in a mere 10 minutes. This breakthrough is achieved through a combination of CATL's new NP3.0 safety platform and innovative cell-to-body structural design. For drivers in Northern Europe, North America, and other cold regions, this development could make electric vehicles a practical and convenient choice year-round.
