CATL Launches "Unfireable" NP3.0 Battery Technology, Targets European EV Transition

Global battery leader Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited (CATL) has unveiled its next-generation safety technology, the NP3.0 (No Propagation 3.0) platform, in Munich, Germany. Designed to meet the high safety demands of the European market and advanced autonomous driving, NP3.0 integrates eight core technologies, including flame-retardant electrolytes and advanced thermal insulation. In the extreme event of a single cell experiencing thermal runaway, the technology can prevent fire and smoke, block heat propagation to neighboring cells, and crucially, keep the vehicle's high-voltage system operational. This allows the car to maintain power for over an hour, enabling drivers to safely pull over and avoid secondary accidents. CATL simultaneously launched the Shenxing Pro LFP battery, the first product equipped with NP3.0, signaling a strong push to support Europe's accelerated electrification with safer, high-performance batteries.
